Crise et intervention étrangère au Mali : Que se passe-t-il au juste ?

Plus d’un demi-siècle après son accession à l’indépendance et malgré une volonté affirmée de construction nationale souveraine par le régime malien post-indépendance, le Mali est contraint de faire appel à son ancien colonisateur pour régler des problèmes internes. Paradoxalement, aucun pays africain n’a été en mesure de lui venir en aide. La nature négociée des indépendances, qui lient de nombreux pays africains à l’ancienne puissance coloniale par des clauses annexes en matière de défense, éclaire en partie cette situation.

After a brief rant on the new Pope, Amandla’s Doug Miller, returning from Malawi, and Gwen Schulman have a wide ranging discussion about the situation in the country, as the new president arrives near the end of her first year in power. The power-hungry people around her and the tradition of self-enrichment that has been installed among the political elite has eroded the goodwill that was available to her after the disastrous final years of the Mutharika regime. The country is holding its breath as it anxiously and apprehensively watches how political forces will line up for the election of 2014.

In Tunisia, the World Social Forum (WSF) – the alternative event to the World Economic Forum in Davos – continues in the capital Tunis. Many thousands of activists from all over the world are attending. Social justice, economic inequality, women’s rights and global warming are just some of the issues being discussed. FRSN spoke with Henda Hendoud a Tunisian independent journalist who lives in the capital and is attending the event.

Lancement de la campagne “Frontexit”: contre les mesures militaristes qui répriment les migrants

Sur le terrain au FSM de Tunis

Cet après-midi des membres de plusieurs groupes européens et africains ont lancé à Tunis la campagne “Frontexit: l’Europe est en guerre contre un ennemi qu’elle s’invente”. Dans une salle de classe bondée, différents intervenants de la campagne, de France, du Mali, de Tunisie et du Maroc sont venus expliquer ce qu’est Frontex, le système européen qui coordonne une traque militariste des migrants, et donner les grandes lignes de la campagne internationale qu’ils entendent mener pour dénoncer la criminalisation des migrants.
